Two days ago, at Thursday's budget markup, the Arlington County Board amended the Chair's original 25% fee proposal up to 44% for competitive teams — nearly twice what the Chair originally put forward. Aerials and Tigers families support the Chair's original 25%. The final vote is Wednesday, April 22.

Body
Dear Chair De Ferranti, Vice Chair Coffey, Ms. Cunningham, Mr. Karantonis, Mr. Spain, and County Manager Schwartz, I am an Arlington resident writing to ask the Board to reconsider the proposed 44% fee increase for competitive gymnastics advanced at Thursday's budget markup. Aerials and Tigers families — through AAPA and ATPA — support the Chair's original 25% stepped fee proposal, which reaches the 86% cost recovery target over a reasonable timeline. The proposed 44% increase would place Arlington's fees between $775 and $7,634 above local private gyms depending on level, making our public program the more expensive option for families. Before Wednesday's vote, I respectfully ask the Board to adopt the 25% stepped approach and pair any fee action with a directive that holds DPR accountable for the structural issues (enrollment growth, staffing, overhead methodology) rather than transferring the full consequence to current and future Aerials and Tigers families. Thank you for your service. Respectfully, [Your name] [Your neighborhood or address]
